Barry Tech students earn Statesman Awards
At the New York State SkillsUSA Leadership Conference in Liverpool, N.Y., seven Barry Tech students earned Statesman Awards for demonstrating their leadership skills through a variety of team activities.The annual conference is a collaboration of students, teachers and industry leaders working toward providing a skilled workforce for America's future.

Community Giving at Barry Tech
Food Drive is underway to benefit St. Brigid's Outreach Program. All donations can be brought to the classrooms up to December 16th..... Bake sale fundraiser is also underway to benefit Jerusalem Avenue Students....Annual holiday boxes are being created to benefit Pediatric Ward at Good Samaritan Hospital......Spread the joy throughout the holiday season by bringing new unwrapped toys to room C206 starting December 1- December 23. Skills USA Fall Leadership Conference
This past week, eight teens from Nassau BOCES Joseph M. Barry Career & Tech Center (Barry Tech) traveled to Syracuse, New York to participate in the SkillsUSA Fall Leadership Conference. It is a partnership of students, teachers and industry leaders collaborating to provide a skilled work force for America’s future. SkillsUSA sponsors the conference, which affords students from across New York State a chance to earn the Statesman Award, which is conferred after the participants demonstrate leadership skills and complete required training.

Cosmetology students give back to North Shore Hospital
What are teenagers doing today? Barry Tech Cosmetology students are using real-life skills learned in class to give back to their community. After spending several months learning the art of cosmetology and developing their interpersonal skills, these teens are able to use their craft in a very special way.

Fashion Design Kicks off Paper Runway
On September 18, students in the first year Fashion Design Program kicked off the year with their first runway experience. After learning some of the basic vocabulary of fashion the students created items made of recycled newspaper. They used the garment center's trade paper, Women's Wear Daily, for their material. They then displayed the items "runway style" for the students of the Medical Assisting Program. The Paper Runway Show was enjoyed by both classes.
