This course will prepare students to take the Federal Aviation Administration Private Pilot written examination, while providing training that can be credited toward a private pilot’s license. Potential pilots will “fly” state-of-the-art computer simulators, using the latest interactive flight training software. They will fly the aircraft in all situations including takeoffs and landings. Many students supplement their flight training with private lessons, earning their private pilot’s license while still in high school. Transportation to In the first year Students will earn approximately 10 hours of flight time in a 4-seat aircraft, with 5 hours credited toward a private pilot’s license. In the second year Qualified students will fly solo. Young pilots will be actively involved in: • pilot flight training • computerized flight planning • downloading weather data • filing computerized flight plans • internships • field trips Course Available: Grade 11 Course Length: 2 years Placement: Regular Credits: Up to 4 CTE credits a year Admissions Criteria: Above average reading and math abilities.
